Acclaimed roots rocker Terra Lightfoot is famous for her phenomenal range and the emotional power she brings to every performance. Those qualities are centre stage on her new album, Live In Concert (out Feb 10 on Sonic Unyon Records), a live document of an orchestral collaboration with the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. She returns to this territory on the evening of Sunday, April 23 2017, when she performs with the Borderlands Ensemble at London’s Aeolian Hall. Tickets are now on sale.

Lightfoot has performed only a handful of live dates with orchestral backing, but they are always exceptionally memorable showcases of song and virtuoso performance. In this collaborative spirit, Terra Lightfoot will perform with the Borderlands Ensemble, a dynamic mini-orchestra, at London’s stunning Aeolian Hall.

The brainchild of composers Igor Saika and Jason Stanford, the Borderlands Ensemble is an eclectic, hybrid, mini-orchestra, designed to excel in virtually any style of instrumental music, whether it be classical, jazz, popular, folk, cabaret, or even the avant-garde.  The main function of the Borderlands Ensemble is to collaborate with a wide range of artists, to create exciting combinations and explore new musical possibilities.

Saika arranged almost all of the orchestral treatments for Lightfoot’s new album, so the pairing in London promises to be something special.

The concert is presented by The Aeolian — a volunteer run, non-profit, music going experience. The Aeolian believes that the arts can enlighten, inspire, and transform, and is, therefore, committed to building a better community through involvement in the arts. Its Heritage building, nationally recognized for its acoustics, is a multi-disciplinary performance arts centre and school for the arts where the synergy between teaching and performance is fostered and allowed to flourish.
